Who We Are

Giant Rabbit was founded to serve nonprofits.

Giant Rabbit was founded in 2006, because Peter Haight and Daniel Heath wanted to help nonprofits use technology to do more good. Since then, Giant Rabbit has grown to fourteen people. We've assembled a team with backgrounds in technology, nonprofit management, design, and communications. Everyone at GR shares a passion for helping our clients make the world a better place.

We strive to be good stewards of our clients' resources.

Stewardship starts with honest communication--learning our clients' mission and presenting options in cost-benefit terms everyone can understand. It also means making sure our clients are empowered through training and documentation--and that our clients own and directly control their own digital assets (servers, domain names, and data).

Everyone at GR is invested in improving what we do.

We're always working to improve our business practices and level up our skills to serve our clients better. GR makes time (even when we're busy, which is basically always) to learn from each other and expand our repertoire of solutions.

Partners

Peter Haight

Peter is Giant Rabbit's technical leader; he has decades of experience planning and implementing software projects for both tiny nonprofits and industry-leading start-ups. He guides GR's technical processes from systems administration through development and long-term support, and acts as GR's highest point of escalation for all technical issues. He really, really, really understands how this stuff works.

Daniel Heath

Daniel oversees strategy, planning and implementation for GR's slate of projects. He has managed hundreds of large and small web and data projects from initial planning through implementation through long-term maintenance, support, and evolution. He is also a nationally-produced playwright.

Staff

Richard Esguerra, Data Strategist and Implementer

Richard Esguerra brings a decade of non-profit fundraising, policy, and activism experience to serving Giant Rabbit's clients. Prior to joining Giant Rabbit, Richard relied on Drupal and CiviCRM to mobilize the public and gather significant financial support for the Electronic Frontier Foundation's digital civil liberties work as the organization's Development Director. Clients seeking a fresh perspective on strategy and technology benefit from Richard's years of experimentation at the front lines of using open-source tools for fundraising and advocacy. Outside of the office, Richard dotes on his family and struggles to retrieve the mystifyingly fabulous Orb of Zot.

Jill Greenblatt, Project Manager

Jill has been working for social and environmental justice for many years, taking on direct service, program management, grants management, and process improvement. An experienced project manager, she has led everything from Salesforce implementations, to planning and launching new programs for local and national nonprofits, to large government grant proposals to build new libraries. Prior to Giant Rabbit, Jill managed and implemented Salesforce projects for clients at Value Stream Consulting, served as Program Director for the Outdoors Empowered Network and Bay Area WIlderness Training, and built the grants management department and systems for the College Futures Foundation. Jill also teaches wilderness leadership, builds tiny houses, and learns things like archery and bird language.

Anna Heath*, Tech Lead

Anna is a veteran Drupal, WordPress, and CiviCRM developer. She has served as both a project manager and a developer on some of GR's largest and most technically-challenging projects (and some of our gnarliest rescues); it's that perspective that makes her one of GR's Tech Leads, who are responsible not just for supervising the technical details of GR projects but also overseeing project strategy as well as key tactical decisions from start to finish. In a previous life, Anna made her living performing in professional regional theater.

Maxamaris Hoppe, Project Manager

Max is a veteran project manager with years of experience planning and building websites, as well as providing support for the humans who use them. Armed with a degree in creative writing, Max began her project management career with WordPress websites for professional authors. Max began her work with giant rabbits in 2006 when she starred in her high school production of Harvey and she's thrilled to be back in such good company. Outside the office, Max spends her time with cats, books, and baked goods.

Stephanie Kirtiadi, Developer

Previously a chemical engineer designing industrial seawater desalination plants, Stephanie decided that she'd rather be a programmer, so she taught herself (and wrote a blog about learning to code). She started out with fun projects like creating a software version of a board game, then joined Giant Rabbit to write code for causes that she believes in. She practices yoga, and has a 200-Hour teacher certifcation, focusing on Baptiste Power Vinyasa Yoga. When she's not on her mat nor in front of her computer, she takes Argentine Tango classes or is out in a milonga, a tango social.

Amanda-Louise Krieger*, Lead Project Manager

Amanda oversees GR's slate of projects and works with our Project Managers to assemble project teams and allocate resources; she also manages many of GR's most demanding projects. Amanda's extensive experience as an Actors' Equity Stage Manager bolsters her ability to to make the proverbial trains run on time as well as to artfully balance dreams with reality. A pop culture maven, home improvement powerhouse and certified underwater welder, she lives in Portland, Oregon with her cat, Godard.

Danielle Levin*, Project Manager

Danielle is a Project Manager for both web and data projects. Before joining Giant Rabbit, Danielle worked at Pixar Animation Studios for many years wearing many different hats. She managed a variety of Pixar projects, including the creation of an internal website for Pixar employees to propose ideas for Studio change, as well as “Pixar in a Box,” a collaboration with Khan Academy that teaches math and science concepts used in creating Pixar films. Danielle is among the acting fools at GR and periodically can be seen on Bay Area stages. In her career, she has played an ant, an ox, and a fox, but never a rabbit.

Jenny Liu, Senior Software Developer

Jenny is the person who does stuff no one else knows how to do, including deep, dark Salesforce integrations and figuring out third-party APIs for the first time. She is a former Google engineer with a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of Washington where she wrote a Master's Thesis on "Quasi-metric Uncapacitated Facility Location for Hyperspectral Image Compression." She is fluent in Javascript / C++ / Python / PHP / et al. and is also a trained Rolfer.

Ollie Lobeck, Project Manager

Ollie enjoys marketing and project management and loves working with clients to help their organizations succeed. Her previous marketing project management experience was in lead generation, including SEO, paid advertising, lead conversion, and ROI evaluation. She has a great respect for budgets and the bottom line and enjoys being a great partner to clients. In her spare time, Ollie enjoys traveling, hiking, and various types of paddle boating.

Mick Mize, QA Lead

Mick leads the development of GR's site documentation and QA standards and practices. He has worked with web and data projects at all stages of development, creating and updating QA documentation and working to ensure trouble-free launches for changes small and large. Mick has been a substitute teacher, a voiceover artist, a theater actor (Puck three times!), and a clown with Cirque du Soleil. He sometimes makes random trailers. This one is for CiviCRM.

Anthony Nemirovsky*, Tech Lead

Anthony specializes in Drupal and CiviCRM development. Anthony has years of experience planning and building websites and data systems; he has also worked as a project manager on some of GR's longest-running development and support projects. That technological and practical perspective makes him one of GR's Tech Leads; he works with a wide range of ongoing projects, from data systems through complex web builds, to make sure that both the implementation details and the project overall are headed in a successful direction. In addition to his work in technology, he is also a professional regional theater actor.

Michelle Nguyen, Lead Designer

Michelle Nguyen is a bona fide Californian and creative based in the Bay Area. With over 10 years of experience, she has built a broad portfolio in print, digital, brand strategy, and social platforms for notable clients such as adidas, Motorola, HP, Playstation, Johnson & Johnson, and Wells Fargo. Michelle has earned 2 ADDY awards as a creative and was featured in AdWeek’s Creative 100 in 2018. She’s worked at top agencies such as Liquid Agency, McCann Erickson, EWI Worldwide, and Blast Radius. She left her tenure as Design Director of Brit + Co and started her own agency in 2016 before moving on to Giant Rabbit as Lead Designer. Aside from design, she spends most of her time as a dog mom of 2 (to pug and chow chow),  watching true crime documentaries, and having a love-hate relationship with her hometown hockey team, the San Jose Sharks.

Ben Wheeler, Senior Drupal Developer

Ben has years of Drupal experience and has worked on some of GR's biggest and most complex builds. His extensive Drupal experience makes him a leader of GR's constantly evolving Drupal best practices. He develops and maintains the standard GR Drupal installation and helps evaluate and improve our slate of recommended modules. He is also a seasoned front-end developer, with a detailed eye for rendering flat designs into dynamic, responsive Drupal themes. Ben studies Hakomi and somatic psychotherapy in his spare time.

Tristan Wolfe, Developer / Project Manager

After years of managing web projects for professional authors, Tristan crossed over and became a WordPress developer, building custom themes with specialized architecture. After joining Giant Rabbit, he has also taken on Drupal development and theming. His work as both a project manager and a developer gives him a 360 degree view of web technology, from conception to execution. On sunny days Tristan can be found exploring the beautiful woods of the west coast, and on rainy days his journeys take him into the pages of his favorite fantasy novels.
