How We Work

Your first phone consultation is free.

Maybe you don't even need our help. If we can point you to a solution you can handle yourself, we will. If it turns out that it makes sense for us to work together, we'll provide you with a flat hourly rate for our services, with no minimum charges or retainer fees.

We can support even the smallest organizations efficiently. If we're handling your on-site IT, we will work with your staff to arrange a schedule of visits that takes care of your present needs while planning for the future and preparing you for disasters. No matter what we're doing for you, we think more like employees than consultants. As we work with you, we'll learn your mission, we'll get to know your staff, we'll learn your office culture, and we'll help you make decisions that work for your unique environment.

If we're working on a specific project, how we work depends on what you need.

• Hourly Pricing: For ongoing projects, or projects where the scope of work is in flux, we can work on an hourly basis, always keeping you in control of your own spending with micro-estimates and clear communication from start to finish.
   
• Project Pricing: For most projects, our clients have a broad set of goals and a general budget. In those situations, we start with a detailed conversation about project goals. Then we provide a budget cap for the project--a fixed amount that will be enough to meet the main goals, with room for additional improvements as the project evolves and progresses. That way we get the best of both worlds--a firm number for your budget, and the flexibility to adapt the details of the project as it progresses.

Our clients are always encouraged to call or email us at any time, no matter how small the issue. We may be able to help you out remotely, or we'll suggest a workaround, and we'll let you know when you can expect us to arrive in person.
